LAKE SHERIFF'S DETECTIVES CHARGE NINE IN UNDERCOVER ALCOHOL PURCHASE OPERATION
Detectives with the Lake County sheriff’s Special Investigations Bureau, along with the City/County Investigative Bureau (comprised of the Eustis, Clermont, Mount Dora and Leesburg Police Departments), recently concluded a two-day undercover sting operation targeting those who sell alcoholic beverages to underage consumers. Detectives used underage, undercover buyers as they visited various locations throughout the entire county.
A total of 50 businesses, including convenience stores and supermarkets, were visited during the operation, 9 of which sold to the underage buyer. Detectives charged all violators through criminal citations.
Attached are two separate lists, one that shows businesses that properly checked for identification and the other showing those that violated the law (click on the icon below).
The Sheriff’s Office conducts these types of undercover operations on a regular basis and will continue to do so to in an effort to make it more difficult for would-be underage buyers to possess alcohol and also to hold accountable those who sell the beverages illegally.
