Captain Christie Mysinger
was born in Michigan and moved to Yuma, Arizona as a small child.
She attended public school through her junior year when she moved back to Michigan. Graduating high school and obtaining her Emergency Medical Technician certification from St. Mary’s University,
she worked in Detroit as an EMT before moving to Leesburg, Florida. She attended the law enforcement academy in Citrus County and was hired by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office where she worked in the narcotics unit.
Christie joined the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in 1991 and has served the citizens of Lake County for over 32 years. During this time, she has had the opportunity to work in a variety of assignments to include, communications,
patrol deputy, field training deputy, D.A.R.E. officer, School Resource Deputy, Investigations, Public Information Officer, Community Services Unit, Professional Standards, Patrol watch commander, School Resource commander,
and in 2020 was tasked with filling in as the Lake County Schools Safety & Security Specialist at the request of the Superintendent. Christie is a former member of the Mounted Patrol and the Critical Incident Response Team and
served as the Deputy Operations Chief over hurricane sheltering operations at the Lake County Emergency Operations Center
Christie has been an instructor at the Lake Tech Institute of Public Safety since 1996, specializing in the high-liability areas including Firearms, Defensive Tactics, CPR/First Aid, and Driving.
Christie and her husband, Tom, were married in 1999 and have three children. Her hobbies include teaching firearms safety, raising horses, traveling, and studying history. Christie serves on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Services Council
and is the President of the Lake County Gator Club.
