Captain Michael Bond 

was born in San Francisco, California and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from college, Michael spent the next 18 years working in the private sector for several fortune 500 companies performing IT and Business Management consulting. In 2004, he completed his basic law enforcement training at Lake Technical College and began working for the Lake County Sheriff's Office in 2005. He has worked various job assignments including Uniform Patrol, Field Training Officer, Minneola District Supervisor, Training Coordinator, Advanced/Specialized Coordinator, SWAT Tactical Medic, Criminal Justice Academy Director and UAS Program Manager. Michael has been an adjunct instructor at Lake Technical College since 2010 and was the Lead First Aid instructor for the past 5 years. In his current position, he is the Criminal Justice Academy Director for Lake Technical College and Training Bureau Commander for the Sheriff's Office.

Michael received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Principia College and a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Louisville. He is also a graduate of the 134th Administrative Officers Course at the University of Louisville's Southern Police Institute and received the Director's Award for highest academics. He is a High Liability instructor in First Aid, Firearms, Taser, Defensive Tactics, Driving and is a state/national certified EMT. Michael serves on the Board of Directors for Minneola Elementary Charter School, Clermont Knights Youth Football & Cheerleading Inc and Knight Time Sports Inc. He is also member of the Lake Sumter Community College Criminal Justice Advisory Board, International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI) and Florida Criminal Justice Training Center Directors' Association.

Michael has three grown children and three grandchildren that live in Lake County. His hobbies include travel, photography, offshore/inshore saltwater fishing and boating on the Gulf.
