VOLUNTEERS:
The Volunteer Program began in August of 1996. Each department within the Sheriff's Office makes use of volunteers where ever possible. Currently, our oldest volunteer is 87 and has been volunteering since 1999. These volunteers are an important part of the daily operations of the Lake County Sheriff's Office. For an application please contact our Community Engagement Department at 352-326-8108 or fill out an application online (see application link above).

DUTIES:
The Volunteer program places volunteers in the Lake County Sheriff's Office, Courthouse, Detention Center, and substations located throughout Lake County. These volunteers help with tasks such as data entry, answering phones, filing, assisting in research, fingerprinting and greeting the public. Every year volunteers with our agency contribute thousands of volunteer hours, saving Lake County taxpayers nearly half a million dollars each year.
