OVERVIEW:
The LCSO Communications Center is a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) answering all cellular 911 calls, all landline 911 calls from unincorporated Lake County and landline 911 calls from the municipalities that we dispatch for. Some of these calls are related to medical or fire emergencies and are transferred to the Lake County Office of Public Safety Support Emergency Communications/911, a secondary PSAP.

Additional PSAP's within Lake County include: Eustis PD, Leesburg PD, Mount Dora PD and Groveland PD. Currently these agencies only receive cellular 911 calls that LCSO transfers to them or landline 911 calls from within their jurisdiction.

LCSO Communications Center provides dispatch and 911 services to the following cities:

  • Clermont Police Department
  • Fruitland Park Police Department
  • Howey in the Hills Police Department
  • Lady Lake Police Department
  • Mascotte Police Department
  • Minneola (LCSO provides law enforcement services)
  • Montverde (LCSO provides law enforcement services)
  • Tavares Police Department
  • Umatilla Police Department

MONTHLY RADIO CHANNEL TRAFFIC:
LCSO utilizes four primary radio channels to dispatch units to calls for service based upon the geographic location of the call.

TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator State Certification, 232 hours (Effective October 1, 2012)
  • LCSO on the job training approximately 1,023 hours (Admin/911, teletype and radio training)
  • Additional State Certification to utilize secure Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS)

STAFFING AND SHIFTS:
  • 4 Shifts (2 day shifts and 2 night shifts):

    Day Shift 6am - 6pm
    Night Shift 6pm - 6am
  • The 4 shifts are budgeted for 16 Dispatchers/911 Public Safety Telecommunicators including a Lead Dispatcher and an Assistant Lead Dispatcher
